Wedding Plans

I feel as if I am never going to be ready for  our wedding in the summer. Six months may seem like a long time, but in the world of weddings it is NO TIME, especially when you are making your dress and your fiancĂ©e's insane get up. Anyhow, we decided to start thrifting for certain wedding goods as soon as possible. We would like to cover all the tables with vintage sheets, on each table there will be an awesome vintage mug filled with wildflowers. We got lucky and found two mugs and some sheets (even a tablecloth!) when we went the other day. I wish I had a fancy hope chest to put all the wedding booty in, maybe we will come across that in a dumpster someday.

Christmas Time

This year, Billy and I traveled up to both our moms' territory, Meade County. We ended up going to five events this year, which was quite a switch from our one last year. The highlights are as follows:
--- Billy made my cousin's three year old child scream bloody murder and burst out crying in front of the whole family. The best part was that he was lifting him in the air so no one missed the show. Luckily, everyone just laughed, and it ended up being a good ice breaker for Billy's first Christmas event with my family.
----We had a super secret Christmas Eve ceremony with my brother and sister out in the snow. It involved a thankful list, hooting, howling, candles, and general things that would make you think "why did it take you all three years to do this?" It has been in the making a long time!
----Mom actually liked the gift I got her!
----I was only called "idiot!" seven times!
---We saw a Celine Dion ornament....
-----We wrote a bunch of awesome songs with my siblings. None of which were recorded, I am sad to say. There topics ranged from how Mom was going to kill me because I was wearing a giant bow( see photo) to my brother Max's girlfriend's mom having brown hair.
---- I got to hold and love on a giant mutant 3 month old baby (also see photo).

I am now having a little bit of "Holiday is Over Let Down", but the wonderful thing is that it always comes back next year.

New Stationary

A few months ago one of Abbigail's friends commissioned me to make some shirts for some of the different all girl camps that she was running.  I was mega excited to have this opportunity and was pleased with the results, but alas, no shirts were ever made. So a few days ago I came across the drawings and thought that one of them might make for some cool stationary. Hopefully I'll be able to get some printed shortly after Christmas! Above is the stationary design and below are the other two camp shirt pics.

Bounini

Today a mysterious stranger came into our lives...she loves Abbigail's socks and underwear...her name was Ms. Lady but she came to be known as... Bounini!  (Pronounced : Boo-Knee-Knee)
A customer brought her to us, who said that she would have to go to the pound if they didn't find her a home by 5 oclock. We would really like to find her a home by tomorrow night because we have to go out of town for the holidays, and aren't allowed to keep her where we live. She is very cute, and loves to play fetch. We are gonna have a hard time watching her go.

Loot

Being that we dumpster dive constantly, we find awesome stuff all the time that we can't believe people would just throw away. This 1974 Wizard of Oz board game and Smoky Mountains children's wallet were the cream of the crop from last night's dive.

Store

A huge part of our life is our store. We're here almost twenty four hours a day every day, even on "days off!"  Opening the shop came naturally to us because we love junking and saving things from the landfill. Note that we have a free bin where we give away anything that we can't sell, instead of throwing it out.
Yesterday, was one of our rare days off. We were pumped to go thrifting for Christmas gifts and decorations for our wedding in the summer. SOMEONE( Who could that be? Perhaps the same person who left them on the night before? ..................Me) left the lights on in the car and the battery died (just like the night before! ). So, we got a jump from our neighbor, Billy ran to lock the door of the store back up and we were on our way .
Suddenly, in the middle of stuffing our faces with five dollar pizza, the phone rang.
     "Hello.."
"Hello, do you own Lovers Live Longer Thrift  Shop?"
             "Yes, can I help you?"
" Yes, my name is Eric, I saw you all waiting for a jump and asked you if you needed help, but your neighbor was already coming.."
      "Sure..."
" Well, you locked me in your store just a few minutes ago.''

                                                                  WHAT.

Welcome!

We are Billy and Abbigail. We own a humble little thrift shop in Richmond, Kentucky called Lovers Live Longer. We are both makers of things, cuckoo, avid wrasslers, dumpster divers, recycling fanatics, lovers of food, and hopeless romantics. We try hard to be good, which means doing things you know you should be doing- which for us means being kind, building , making, searching for treasure, singing, growing things, exploring, learning, and being kids. We like reading about other people's lives so we thought someone might like to read about ours too.
